Sajjad knocks Qasim out in Snooker Championship

ISLAMABAD Mohammad Sajjad defeated Qasim Kamani 5-1 in the quarter-final of the National Ranking Snooker Championship at the Pakistan Sports Board snooker hall on Monday.

Sajjad from Punjab won the first two frames 61-08, 65-28 but lost the third 25-68.

However, the top ranking national player continued with his winning streak lifting the last frames 69-39, 93-08 and 66-06.

After the match Sajjad told Dawn “I am confident to win the semi-final against Mohammad Asif. I know he is playing good but I will give him a tough time.”

Mohammad Asif, an emerging player from remote district of Punjab, proved too good for his rival Abdul Sattar from Sindh.

Asif commanded few frames against his rival Sattar before closing the match in his name at 5-4 which assured his berth for the semi-final against Sajjad.

Meanwhile, Imran Shehzad from Punjab defeated Sultan Mohammad from Sindh.

Imran got a break in third, fourth, and sixth frames at 77, 54, 58.

However despite losing the first frame 45-53, Imran stayed firm and displayed good game approach against Sultan winning the frames at 65-58, 95(77)-01, 61(54)-16, 72-60 and 78(58)-08.

In the day's last fixture, Asjad Iqbal hammered Imran Qamar from Punjab 5-1.
