Man, two sons shot dead in Haripur

HAIPUR, May 1 Four persons including a man and his two sons were shot dead in two incidents of firing that took place in the jurisdiction of Khalabat Township police station here on Saturday.

The police quoted Sajjad of Khalabat Township as saying his father Safdar Zamn and two brothers Akhtar Zaman and Mukhtar Zaman were waiting at Dari Chowk for a thresher owner for harvesting wheat crop when Haji Mir Afzal and his nephew Muqadar Shah appeared from a nearby street and opened fire with Kalashnikovs on his father and two brothers injuring them seriously. Indiscriminate firing by the accused, according to complainant, and eyewitnesses, also left a passerby namely Sher Bahadur wounded critically.

The injured were removed to DHQ hospital but the two sons and their father bled to death on the way while the fourth injured was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad in precarious condition.

The motive behind triple murder, according to the complainant, was dispute over the ownership of wheat crop that the victims had grown at a piece of land on the bank of Tarbela Lake while the accused party was claiming that it was their property, which led to altercation between them.

Meanwhile, in the second incident of firing a young girl was shot dead allegedly by her cousin over suspicion of moral turpitude in village Kandrori Soha of Khalabat Township.

Police quoted Tansneem Bibi, wife of Sakhi Mohammad, as saying her husband was out of home and she along with her daughter Rajida Bibi, 16, was asleep in the courtyard when at around 5 in the morning Sajjad, son of Noor Mohammad, barged into their house and opened fire with 12-bore shotgun at her daughter killing her on the spot.
