PESHAWAR A four member Pakistan Judo team left for Korea to take part in the 2010 JIKJI Cup International Junior Judo Tournament under the aegis of Korea Judo Association in which players below 20 years of age compete.The team comprises of two Judoka Shah Hussain Shah (Tokyo No. 3) and Shahzaib Shah with manager Masood Ahmad.
Shah Hussain along with his Japanese Coach Takuji Kawai is also part of the team. Shah is an internationally renowned Judo player who also remained World Judo Champion in 1992 and has many awards. Both the Judoka have got extensive training from Kawai in Japan and are well prepared for the event.
Talking to APP, Masood Ahmad said before leaving for Korea, that the team comprises of young athletes who will not only bring in repute for Pakistan but will also become an asset in the future.
“We have lots of Judo talent in Pakistan which can be capitalized through different scientific, professional, physical and psychological training programs.”
He said limited resources, minimum grants, lack of government interest are the main hindrances in the promotion of individual games at international level.
“We request the competent authorities to come forward and back up all individual sports which can bring numbers of medals to the country and will raise the Pakistan's flag high up to the skies,” he added. - APP
