KARACHI, Aug 15: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has said that if needed, 10 million flood victims would be shifted to Karachi and Hyderabad.
The home minister was talking to a group of journalists on Sunday during his visit to a relief camp in Razzaqabad.
He met flood survivors who complained to him of non-availability of essential relief items.
The minister said full relief arrangements could not be made immediately for such a large number of people. However, he assured them that the government would provide relief to all flood survivors.
Answering a question, he said that the Sindh government had made arrangements for 2.5 million people from Swat who had been displaced during a military operation there. And this time the flood victims were the natives and owners of Sindh and if needed, the government would make arrangements for 10 million flood victims' stay in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Replying to another question, he said some dishonest people, projecting themselves as flood victims, had also taken shelter in the relief camps, but they would be shunted off and punished.
He appealed to all sections of society to forget all differences and come forward to help flood victims.
