Zafar spins Karachi Blues to big win over Kohat

ISLAMABAD, Sept 8: Karachi Blues needed just 2.5 overs Sunday to mop up the Kohat tail for an innings and one-run victory on the final day of their three-day National Junior (Under-19) Grade-I Cricket Championship match at the KRL Stadium.

Kohat, 138 for seven overnight in their second innings, were sent crashing for 150. Leg-spinner Mohammad Ali Zafar claimed all three wickets to fall to finish with a match haul of 11 for 94. He had five victims in the first innings.

The victory, achieved with virtually a full day to spare was worth 12 points for Karachi Blues who now face Islamabad in their next match.

Karachi Whites, meanwhile, suffered defeat by one wicket against Rawalpindi at National Stadium largely because of atrocious fielding with several chances being grassed.

Rawalpindi lost nine wickets in reaching their target of 196.

Lahore Whites fell nine runs short of victory against Quetta at PCB Regional Academy Ground in Karachi. Salman Qadir took six for 76 with his off-spinners in Quetta’s second innings.
