ISLAMABAD Mescom Football Academy, a local club in Islamabad, Pakistan, got an unexpected but significant shot in the arm when the the German Embassy in Islamabad announced an equipment sponsorship for it over the weekend.Islamabad Football Association (IFA) President, Faisal Rahman IFA Secretary, Mohammad Zaman, Andres Dauth, Third Secretary, Press and Commercial Section and Tanweer, the President of the Academy were present on the occasion.
Nigerian Coach of the academy, Emeka Aliewa said that the Pakistani players were full of talent and that the sponsorship would support the development of this talent in the months ahead.
“I see a lot in talent in the players it's just that we need to polish their skills and the rest they can do. We have got all the potential we need and I believe that we can go in the football world cup too in the years to come,” Emeka said.
“We are thankful to German Embassy which is doing its bit for the uplift of football in the city. This (sponsorship) would go a long way in boosting the spirits of the youth at the academy,” he added.
Emeka, who participated in the GEO Super League as a player in 2007 in Karachi also appealed to all the NGO's to back academies across the country to raise the standard of the game and produce more stars for Pakistan. -APP
