Pakistanis advance in squash event
NEW DELHI, Oct 4: Four Pakistan squash players won their matches at the Commonwealth Games on Monday.
Aamir Atlas Khan, Farhan Mahboob, Yasir Butt and Danish Atlas Khan secured their place in the second round.
Seeded 10th in the event, top Pakistani squash player Aamir Atlas Khan took only 12 minutes to dispatch Masud Rana of Bangladesh in the first round, recording a straight set 11-2, 11-2, 11-6 triumph.
Aamir's younger sibling, unseeded Danish Atlas Khan also took only 12 minutes to thrash his first-round opponent Bruce Burrowes of Jamaica registering a formidable 11-1, 11-5, 11-2 win.
The 13th seed Farhan Mahboob overpowered Samuel Kyagulanyi of Uganda recording a straight-set 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 win in 18 minutes.
Yasir Butt got a walkover against Christopher Binnie of Jamaica in the first round.
Meanwhile, Australia's David Palmer, one of only a handful of players making his fourth appearance in the Commonwealth Games, began by beating Malawi's Julius Taulo 11-1, 11-2, 11-3.
