GHAZNI, Nov 1: A large number of militants attacked and seized a district in an Afghan province on Sunday night, officials said.

Mohammad Yaseen, police commander for Khogyani district in Ghazni province, said the militants had set fire to the district headquarters and police had suffered casualties.

The interior ministry said later the provincial police chief had travelled to the area to investigate and police had regained control.—Reuters
