Benazir killing case: Arrest warrants for FIA official

RAWALPINDI, Nov 13: The anti-terrorism court conducting trial of five suspects in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case here on Saturday issued warrants for the arrest of a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) official for not submitting conclusive investigation report despite repeated directions.

ATC-III Special Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed issued warrants against FIA Deputy Director Khalid Rasool, who is also a member of the joint investigation team, after he could not submit the final report.

The investigation officer early in the day appeared before the court and sought more time for submission of the final report; but the court turned down his request and directed him to submit the document before the end of official court timing.

When the investigator could not turn up in the court, the judge issued his non-bailable arrest warrants with the directive to the FIA director-general to arrest him and submit the report on November 15.
