Haripur to have two new girls colleges

HARIPUR, Nov 27: The construction of two new girls' degree colleges in the district will start soon, as Rs50 million funds approved by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for the project have been transferred to the provincial kitty, PPP MPA and party's district president Dr Faiza Rasheed told journalists here on Saturday.

She said that with the opening of new colleges burden on the city's lone girls degree college would be reduced and students would get environment conducive to seeking higher education. She said that this would also provide more chances of education to local students who had been moving to colleges in other cities.

Dr Faiza criticised former MNAs and MPAs for ignoring this basic demand of the students, and added that for this purpose she met the prime minister and got approval for the new girls' colleges for the district, and a passport office and sui gas project for different union councils.

She said that land for one girls degree college had been allocated in Dhenda and its construction would start next month. She said that land acquisition process was underway for the other girls' degree college in Serai Nehmat Khan.

The MPA said that the transfer of funds for the Sui gas project for Serai Nehmat Khan and other areas would also be completed by end of this year.

Dr Faiza claimed that she got approved two new projects of manufacturing of Electronics Voting Machines for the TIP to save it from becoming a sick unit.
