Haripur entry, exit points to be sealed on Muharram 9,10

HARIPUR, Dec 10: District Police Officer Haripur Mohammad Ali Gandapur has said the exit and entry points of the district would be sealed on 9th and 10th of Muharram to ensure foolproof security to mourning processions and Imambargahs.

He added the main bazaar and its link roads would also be sealed on 9th of Muharram. This he said while speaking to newsmen here on Friday.

Mr Gandapur said being one of the sensitive districts of the province the police had chalked out a security plan to keep a vigilant eye on the movement of suspects and criminals with enhanced strength of regular police, elite force, and contingents of Frontier Reserved Police.

He said for reinforcement of existing strength another contingent of 300 policemen had been approved by the DIG Hazara range for the district for the holly month.

Sharing security plan with the local media the DPO said a total of 68 processions would be taken out from 20 Imambarghas and other approved places in different parts of the district during the months of Muharram and Saffar for which additional strength of police, FRP and elite force would be deputed on these places. The DPO ruled out the chances of calling in FC and military reinforcements.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A girl was killed while her mother, brother and sister were injured when a car they were travelling in crashed against a roadside tree on Thursday night.

Saddar police said the family of a former naib nazim of Pandak union council Ghulam Jan was going from Havelian to Haripur in a car when it skidded off the road and crashed against a roadside tree, killing Farwa Jan, 15, on the spot and injuring her mother Sajida Bibi, sister Fiza Jan, 17, and brother Fareed Jan.

The dead and the injured were taken to district headquarters hospital Haripur from where Fiza and her mother were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad in critical condition.

Fareed who was driving the car was hospitalised with minor injuries.
