No threat to present set up: Aitzaz Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: Aitzaz Ahsan, a veteran Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and member of executive committee of the party, on Monday ruled out any change in the present set up, a day after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) quit the PPP-led coalition government at the centre.

Responding to queries of media representatives in the Supreme Court building, he said: “No MNA sitting in the assembly wants that the assembly be dissolved”.

“The PPP government does not face any danger from estranged coalition partners,” he emphasised.

He maintained that bringing about a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Gilani was not an easy task especially under the current situation.

Responding to MQM’s decision to part ways with the federal government, he said their seriousness would be judged on the issue of governorship.

“Let them take a decision over leaving the governorship of Sindh province like the JUI-F ministers did,” he said.
