Richardson visits NSK to watch Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final
KARACHI: The General Manager Cricket Operations Dave Richardson on Thursday visited the National Stadium here and watched the first days' play in the day/night Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy at the stadium.
Former South African wicketkeeper/batsman Richardson is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to watch the success of day/night matches in the longer version of the game. He will also submit a report about the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final to ICC about the prospect of introduction of day/night Test matches in future.
With the Director General of PCB Javed Miandad and Chief Operating Subhan Ahmed, Richardson besides watching the PIA batsmen in action also visited various parts of the stadium.
This is his second visit to Pakistan. Earlier Dave Richardson was in Lahore when the touring Sri Lankan team came under a terrorist attack at Liberty Market Round About in Lahore on March 03, 2009.
This is the first visit of an ICC official after the spot-fixing controversy involving former Pakistan Captain Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Aamir. Earlier ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat visited Karachi at the launching of the ICC World Twenty20 Trophy here.
Dave Richardson will be speaking to the media on Friday during the lunch break of the match, ICC Media Officer Samiul Hasan told reporters. In the meantime former Pakistan Captains Hanif Muhammad, Wasim Akram and former PIA Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer PCB Arif Ali Khan Abbasi also watched the first day proceedings in the PIA dressing room.
