US consulate shifts to new complex
KARACHI, Jan 18: The US consulate general in Karachi has relocated to a newly-built complex along Mai Kolachi Road.
“Our relocation enables us to continue building a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the American people and Pakistanis,” said Consul-General William Martin on Tuesday.
He added: “I am looking forward to showing the people of Sindh and Balochistan our new consulate complex.”
The new consulate building houses an American centre designed to increase interaction between Americans and Pakistanis. The centre will hold educational, informative and cultural programmes.
The new address of the consulate is: Plot No 3-5, TPX Area, Mai Kolachi Road, Karachi. The new telephone number is (92)(21)3527-5000. Public inquiry email addresses are unchanged.
In 2005, the US government purchased 20 acres from the Karachi Port Trust and ground-breaking took place in May 2008. After nearly two years of construction work, the new facility has finally been completed.
It was announced that the US consulate general in Karachi would expand non-immigrant visa services for residents of Sindh and Balochistan.
