ISLAMABAD: Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, Major General Ubaidullah Khan has ruled out presences of Taliban militants and Quetta or Balochistan Shura like entity in Quetta city or any other part of the province.
“Let me say it very categorically that there is no entity of Taliban and Quetta or Balochistan Shura in Quetta or any other part of the province,” he told PTV in an interview.
“I have heard the name of Quetta or Balochistan Shura in western media reports. Western media is propagating the entity of the Shura to destabilize the province and give space to foreign operation in Balochistan.” he said.
Khan said that he had visited each and every part of the province and did not find any clue of any such Shura or Taliban.
However, he said that there are certain militants of Murree and Bugti tribes, who are playing in the hands of foreign and anti Pakistan elements for money.
He said a hand full of people like Khair Buksh Murree and Barham Dagh Bugti were targeting development and exploration projects in the province, adding that they were exploiting poor and deprived Baloch people for the purposes.
He said the law and order situation of Balochistan is different from FATA and tribal belt of Pakistan.
IG FC also rejected presences of US forces' base camp in Balochistan, adding that being ally in war on terror the Pakistan and US forces time to time coordinate with each other to attack militants in FATA and Tribal belt of Pakistan to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
He clarified that Pakistani forces attack the militants inside Pakistan and US forces in Afghanistan.
“Our neighboring country Afghanistan has been experiencing war and anarchy since the last 30 years. Foreign forces' attacks and internal wars had damaged peace of Afghanistan. How, we can remain safe when the region is facing unrest since long,” he said.
He said some foreign forces had set up camps which trained youths and later used them for terrorist activities in Balochistan.
He added such forces wanted to destabilize Pakistan by creating unrest and lawlessness in Balochistan.
He said important geographical location of Balochistan in the region and terrorism had pushed the province to a complex situation.
He recalled all institutions including bureaucracy, law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, judiciary and media have to play their role in removing the sense of deprivation besides ensuring resolution of basic problems faced by the people of Balochistan to secure peace in the province.
He said that steps including setting up of schools, providing employment opportunities to youth are being taken to remove the sense of deprivation among the people.
Khan said since he has taken the charge of IG FC no threatening letter was received by any educational institution, adding it was rumours that national anthem was not being sung by students.
He said Baloch people are very patriotic and national anthem is sung in every educational institution with observance of Pakistani flag hoisting ceremony.
Khan said that all have to sit together to resolve the problems of Balochistan people.
He vowed to turn around the situation in Balochistan in next two years in collaboration with provincial government and its assisting departments. – APP
