Woman 'would-be suicide bomber' arrested in Bajaur

KHAR, Feb 9: A suspected woman would-be suicide bomber and five other people were arrested during a raid in Sadiqabad, some 3km from Bajaur region’s headquarters of Khar, on Wednesday.

Political administration officials said security forces and Levies in a pre-dawn raid on a house arrested Siasat Bibi, Fahmeeda Bibi, Basmina Bibi, Fazal Khaliq (the house owner), Ibrahim alias ‘commander’ Dadar and Khan Badshah.

Sources said the raid was ordered after the political administration and security forces received information that a daughter of Dadar was missing for a few days. They were also informed about the presence in the house of would-be suicide bombers who may attack government installations any time.

An official of the political administration said on condition of anonymity that one of the detained girls was found to be a would-be suicide bomber, but refused to disclose her name.

He said the arrested people, who hailed from Nawagai area, were taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Senior local official Sohail Khan told AFP: “Security forces and local administration officials arrested a woman wearing a suicide vest.”
