Four injured in attack on Quetta Express

QUETTA, Feb 10: Four people, among them a train driver and foreman, were injured when armed men attacked a Quetta-bound train in Notal area of Nasirabad district on Thursday evening.

Sources said the assailants used a rocket and guns in the attack on the Quetta Express coming from Peshawar.

“The rocket hit the engine, injuring driver Abdul Ghafoor,” confirmed Roshan Ali Mangi, divisional superintendent of the Sukkur railways division.

He said the PR officials had stopped the train in Notal and a relief train had been sent because the locomotive had been damaged by the rocket.

The sources said that a foreman and two passengers were also injured who were taken to a hospital in Dera Murad Jamali.

Meanwhile, a portion of the railway line was damaged in the same area when a bomb planted on it exploded.

Personnel of Frontier Corps, Levies Force and Balochistan Constabulary cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

A spokesman for the Baloch Republican Army, Sarbaz Baloch claimed responsibility for the attack.LANDMINE BLAST: Four passengers of a van were injured in a landmine blast in Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti district on Thursday.
