Qadir Gilani paid Rs8.5m duty on jeep

LAHORE, Feb 15: Abdul Qadir Gilani, a son of the prime minister, says he had imported a bullet-proof vehicle after paying its duty.

“I paid Rs8.5 million duty on the bullet-proof jeep I imported from the UAE in mid-2009. I followed the entire legal procedure and no under invoicing or any other violation had been committed,” Abdul Qadir said while responding to an allegation in this regard.

He said he had an NoC from the interior ministry and the record of the transaction would be presented before the apex court. Dawn

Gilani told he was deliberately being involved in Haj scam as the Federal Investigation Agency had only inquired about the transaction of his bullet-proof vehicle.

“I have replied to the FIA query. I bought the vehicle in 2009 while Haj scam surfaced in 2010. I fail to understand as to why some quarters are continuously trying to bracket me with the Haj scam,” Gilani wondered.— Staff Reporter
