Demo in favour of Musharraf

LAHORE, Feb 18: The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Friday against the issuance of arrest warrants for former president Pervez Musharraf in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Holding placards and banners, the protesters expressed solidarity with Musharraf, the president of APML.

Speaking on the occasion, APML spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said Musharraf was the only man who could steer the country out of crises. He said hurdles were being put in the way of Musharraf to keep him out of national politics. He said the PPP and PML-N had failed to deliver and people were now remembering the days of Musharraf rule which was people-friendly.

Chaudhry said the arrest warrants were a “politically motivated move” and the APML would not allow anyone to malign the former president. He said the investigation into the assassination of Ms Bhutto had been carried out five times, and it proved that Baitullah Mehsud committed the crime.

Hafiz Mohayuddin said courts were penalising those who fought against militants instead of taking action against the militants.
