Three top militants held in Bajaur

KHAR, Feb 21: The security force arrested three local militant commanders in Bajaur tribal region on Monday, sources said.

They said that security forces launched a search operation in Kausar area of Khar tehsil after getting information about presence of three wanted militant commanders there.

Security forces arrested the militant commanders and also demolished the houses of three other suspected militants during the search operation.

In Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency, security forces demolished four hideouts of militants on Monday.

Security forces and volunteers of a local peace committee launched a joint search operation in Jhanda Masood locality of Safi tehsil and demolished four houses suspected to be used by militants.

Officials said that peace committee volunteers also captured two suspected militants in Ambar tehsil and handed them over to authorities for interrogation.

The authorities also foiled an attempt to kidnap a 10-year-old boy from Danishkol IDPs camp.

Sources said that political administration recovered the boy, Rehmatullah, from Hazara Shah Beg area after six hours of his disappearance from the camp and arrested an accused.

A suspect was arrested by political administration in Ekka Ghund tehsil.

Sources said that the detained man belonged to Swat district.

Meanwhile, panic gripped tribesmen when unmanned spy planes flew at a low altitude over different areas of North Waziristan Agency on Monday.

Sources said that tribesmen also opened firing on the drones with heavy weapons.

They said that the spy planes were seen flying low over Hamzoni, Dattakhel, Miramshah, Mirali and Razmak subdivisions of the tribal region.

It is pertinent to mention here that six persons were killed in a drone attack in Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan tribal region on Sunday.
