KOHAT, March 2: Three minor brothers received burn injuries and their house was partially damaged in a blast caused by gas leakage in KDA Town here on Wednesday.The blast occurred in the house of Hafeez Noor when a room filled with gas suddenly exploded and caught fire. The bomb disposal squad soon extinguished the fire and rescued the children.

WATER SUPPLY: The Saghari Development Society (SDS) engaged in struggle for the rights of local residents has called for transparent use of Rs12 million spent every month on supply of water through tankers. It said that despite having such a handsome amount at their disposal the concerned staff failed to provide water to all the residents.

A jirga held at Shakardarra town regretted that the area was still without drinking and irrigation water though 19 oil and gas facilities were being operated here by the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC).

The jirga was held at Rehmanabad on Wednesday with the SDS president Ahmed Ali in the chair while prominent leaders and elders of Shakardarra and brother of MNA Pir Dilawar Shah attended the function.

The speakers demanded that the OGDC should execute the gas supply scheme in the rural-I and rural–II areas with theapproval of local people and constitute committees for its execution. They said that the water supply through tankers should be made transparent.

The participants requested Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti to visit Shakardarra and see the condition of residents.

TRANSFERRED: District police officer Mubarik Zeb on Wednesday replaced the station house officers of three police stations.

Mr Zeb transferred the SHO of Cantt police station Mazhar Jehan to police lines and appointed sub-inspector of KDA Town police, Umer Hayat in his place. Similarly, inspector Nazeer Khan had been directed to relinquish the charge of the Rescue 15 for Akbar Khan, who had been moved from Lachi police station.

Sub-inspector Khanullah has been appointed SHO of Lachi police station in place of inspector Ali Hassan, who was asked to report in the police lines, according to a police handout.
