Veteran journalist Safdar Qureshi dies

ISLAMABAD, March 3: Safdar Ali Qureshi, former Director General of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and International Islamic News Agency died here on Thursday evening of cardiac arrest. He was 83.Safdar was also the former President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) for two terms.

He was the office-bearer of Afro-Asian Journalist Association, which was sponsored by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Chou-en-Lai of China and Tanku Abdul Rehman of Malaysia.

Safdar Qureshi played a pivotal role in furthering the cause of Asian journalists. He played a very active role in securing the Wage Board Award for the journalists.

His Namaz-i-Janaza will be offered at Abassi Market Mosque in Sector F-8/3 after Friday prayers. His funeral will be taken out from House No 4-B, Street 12, F-8/3, Islamabad. —APP
