Two die on road in Haripur

HARIPUR, March 6: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents here. In the first incident, a car and a passenger van collided head-on near Nika Pah Shah Maqsood village on GT Road some 7km from here the other day.

Saddar police said drivers of both the vehicles were injured and taken to Women and Children Hospital from where they were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad in critical condition, but Mohammad Ashraf, the driver of passenger van, died on the way. The other injured was identified as Naseeb Khan.

In the second incident, a bike rider was killed while his friend was injured critically when a speeding passenger van struck them near Kamal Pur Panian on GT Road on Sunday.

Police and eyewitnesses said Mohammad Zubair, 18, and Abdul Basit, of Taxila were on their way to Haripur on a motorcycle but when they reached near village Kamalpur Panian an Abbottabad-bound recklessly driven passenger Coaster hit their bike from behind injuring both of them seriously.

They were taken to hospital in Haripur, where doctors pronounced Mr Zubair as dead. Abdul Basit was referred to Ayub Medical Complex in critical condition. RECOVERED:

The Khanpur police claim recovering the stolen machinery of a paper manufacturing unit worth millions of rupees and arresting three accused.

The machinery was recovered from Islamabad the other day. Police said Shafiq ur Rehman Sethi, the owner of Hazara Papers Mill, Tarnava Khanpur, had imported a chairlift from Germany worth Rs22 million in 2005.

But as the selected point in Azad Kashmir suffered massive destruction due to earthquake the machinery could not be moved to that area and was stored at the warehouse of Hazara Papers Mill.
