Raja Riaz to ‘speak out for people, not leaders’

LAHORE: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and PPP leader Raja Riaz on Wednesday said “it seems as if a mughal emperor was ruling Punjab instead of a chief minister…I have remained quiet on the orders of the party leadership.”

Speaking at the young doctors’ protest camp in Lahore, Riaz said the claims of the doctors were valid and the PPP fully supported their demands.

“The people and the doctors are protesting on the streets but the Punjab government is not willing to talk to them and resolve the issue,” said Riaz.

He further said that for the last eight months, there had not been a City Police Officer (CPO) present on duty in Faisalabad, whereas Punjab was without a health minister for the duration.

“I have remained quiet on orders of the party leadership but now I will speak out for the people and would not let the leaders have their way,” said Riaz.
