Chitral interns awaiting payment of stipends
THE National Internship Programme was launched by the government to facilitate unemployed graduates and master's degree holders, providing a stipend of Rs10,000 a month. As a result, unemployed graduates and master's degree holders of Chitral were also appointed in different departments.
They are performing their duties and many of them, according to the contract, had worked without any break for one year. Unfortunately, they have not been paid for their services for the last five months. The government is appointing new interns, paying salaries to the interns from all over Pakistan but is paying no heed to the financial problems of the interns from Chitral who are concerned over non-payment of the stipend since November 2010.
