Charm of apricot blossom in Gilgit-Baltistan

SKARDU, April 18: With the advent of spring season, the blossoming trees of apricot, cherry, apple and other fruits in the mountainous and hidden valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan present an awe-inspiring view for the tourists. The unique charm cannot be compared to any other part of the world.

The apricot trees are abundantly found in Gilgit-Baltistan with more than 300 different varieties of the fruit carrying different taste. The people in the region are very fond of fruits, especially apricots.

Each house has its own orchard full of fruit trees.

Apricot is the best source of income for the poor people.

They also meet their fuel requirements from the trees during the cold and long winters.

During spring season, the apricot flowers not only add to the beauty of the region, but also fill the air with a sweet fragrance.

That is the reason that a large number of nature lovers from different parts of the world, especially Japan, come to the rugged region in the month of April each year.
