Newly-elected NWFP MPs form group

LANDI KOTAL, Oct 17: The newly-elected MNAs from tribal areas have formed a group to make their presence felt in the current political scenario.

Led by Allama Noorul Haq Qadri, successful candidate from Khyber Agency NA-45, the group held a meeting in Peshawar to devise ways and means regarding their future line of action. The group includes Dr Sayed Javed hussain of Kurram Agency (NA-37), Dr Naseem Afridi of Darra Adamkhel (NA-47), Dr Ghazi Gulab Jamal from Aurakzai Agency (NA-39) and Haji Muneer of Kurram Agency (NA-38).

The meeting resolved to safeguard the interests of the tribal areas and would extend their hand of cooperation to only that party which could ensure the resolution of problems being faced by the tribal population.

The group is also in touch with the rest of the tribal parliamentarians. It may be noted the Federally Administered Tribal Areas have a total of 12 seats in the National assembly.

Apart from the above mentioned seats, the rest seven were all grabbed by candidates having the backing of Muttahida Majlis-i Amal. They all have announced their support to MMA.

Talking to Dawn, Allama Noorul Haq Qadri said his group would support Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in its efforts to enforce Islamic system of governance in the country. He however stressed that his group would try to keep their independent status intact.
