PPP has split into two groups: Qureshi
MIRPURKHAS: Former minister for foreign affairs and spiritual leader of the Ghosia Jamaat, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has said the PPP has split into two groups.
“One group is ruling the country and is busy looting national resources while keeping aloof from the masses, and the other group comprises sincere workers and office-bearers who do not get anything and are deprived of their rights, including jobs,” he said at a public meeting at Pak Colony ground here on Sunday night that, according to an estimate, was attended by over 50,000 people.
He said the PPP could suffer a loss if the PML-Q joined the government because the people had not forgotten the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
He said there were reservations over the issue among PPP workers and office-bearers, but the rulers wanted to forge an alliance with the PML-Q. He said the rulers should not hurry in forging the alliance.
He said the PPP was a symbol of the federation but it had been converted into the symbol of a province because of some individuals.
Mr Qureshi said he was part of the PPP and had worked with Ms Bhutto who believed in the politics of federation not regionalism.
Appealing to the people to support him, he said he would take up the problems of Sindh. He said voice would also be raised from Punjab if Sindh faced injustice.
