LAHORE: Pakistan’s Test wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal said on Monday that Zulqarnain Haider should give evidence about his reported match-fixing charges against the former’s father-in-law, warning otherwise the latter will face the legal action.

Talking to reporters here, Kamran said he came to know through some TV reports that Zulqarnain, who reached Islamabad from London on Monday ending his five-and-a-half-month self-exile in Britain after abandoning the team during a one-day series in the UAE, had alleged that Kamran’s father-in-law was involved in match-fixing.

“I always treated Zulqarnain as my younger brother. But I am really disappointed over his statement against my father-in-law [or any other relative]. Zulqarnain should give proof for this, otherwise I will sue him,” the 29-year-old Kamran said.

It may be mentioned here that Kamran, who has played 53 Tests, 137 One-day Internationals and 38 Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan, on several occasions in the past was treated as a fixing suspect and was dropped from the team due to severe criticism. But every time, he managed to return to the team.

The PCB integrity committee cleared Kamran, leading to the veteran player’s inclusion in the World Cup squad.
