Strike in Quetta to protest killing

QUETTA, May 7: A strike was observed in the city on Saturday in protest against the killing of six Hazara people in a rocket-and-gun attack at a park on Friday. The call for the strike was given by the Hazara Democratic Party and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.

Supporting the strike call, the Anjuman Tajran Balochistan had asked traders to keep businesses shut in order to press the government to take effective measures to arrest the killers.Shops remained closed in several parts of the city to express solidarity with the families of victims.

However, government offices, banks and educational institutions functioned as usual and traffic in the city was normal.

The government had deployed security personnel at sensitive places to meet any eventuality. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city.

Banned organisation Lashkar-i-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for the attack.
