‘Abbottabad conservation strategy be expedited’

ABBOTTABAD, Oct 21: District Nazim Mustafa Jadoon has asked the planners to finalize recommendations for the Abbottabad Conservation Strategy without further delay.

This he said while presiding over the first meeting of Abbottabad Conservation Strategy (ASC), which was attended by government officials, representatives of NGOs, business community and women from civil society organizations.

The district Nazim laid stress on marking priorities and demanded cooperation of line agencies so that duplication of work is avoided.

Jadoon also asked the NGOs to be more practical and said that they had received a number of complaints about the misuse of funds by some NGOs against which, he said, the district government was taking stern action. In this regard, he said, the initial data had been collected from different sources.

He also showed displeasure over the slow progress of the Abbottabad Conservation Strategy, which was started in 1998 but still the findings could not be finalized.

Earlier, Attaur Rehman Lodhi, EDO Finance and Planning, Muhammad Shafiq District Planning Officer, Iftikhar Malik project manager IUCN-ASC support unit Abbottabad in their presentations said that the recommendations would be tabled before the special committee of the district council on the 29th.
