BHC asks govt to inform court about progress in Bugti case

QUETTA, June 7: A division bench of Balochistan High Court directed the ministry of interior and Balochistan government on Tuesday to file affidavits on progress made in the case of Nawab Akbar Bugti's murder.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Issa and Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, expressed dissatisfaction over poor progress and said that the FIR had been lodged in 2009 but no action was taken so far.

The chief justice said the government had formed a judicial tribunal on the killing of five foreigners, but no judicial commission had been set up to investigate the killing of the important person.

Balochistan Advocate General Amanullah Kanrani expressed reluctance to represent the state in the case, saying he had been closely associated with the late Nawab Bugti.

The hearing was adjourned till June 15.
