Six killed as Dadu sizzles at 51 degrees

DADU, June 28: At least six people were killed and 30 others fainted as the mercury rose to 51 degrees Celsius in Dadu and adjoining areas on Tuesday.

Five deaths were reported in Sehwan Sharif and one near Tando Rahim in Kachho area.

Shops remained closed and all the streets wore a deserted look because of the scorching heat. Loadshedding of two hours after every hour of supply multiplied the people's misery.

Kalimullah, 45, a cowherd, died of heatstroke in the mountain area near Tando Rahim Khan village.

Naseeban, a 44-year-old devotee of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz, fainted in the courtyard of the mausoleum and died.

Faqir Mohammad Ali of Tando Adam fell unconscious near the Musafirkhana of the Auqaf department and later died.

A 25-year-old pilgrim died near Attock hotel and a 60-year-old man died in Pathan Colony due to heatstroke.

Abdul Hakeem Baloch of Turbat died at Jahaz chowk.
