Rs130 million to be spent on link roads in Gilgit
GILGIT, July 1: The Gilgit-Baltistan government will spend an amount of Rs130 million on construction of link roads in the Gilgit city.
An official of the public works department told Dawn on Friday funds for the purpose had been earmarked in the current fiscal year.
The official said the chief minister had instructed speedy completion of the scheme.
The official said the tendering process will begin shortly after which work on the project would be assigned to contractors.
MEDICAL COLLEGE: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has constituted a high-level committee to conduct a feasibility study for establishing a medical college. The committee would be headed by the chief secretary.
An official of the health directorate disclosed on Friday the committee would comprise six members.
The official said in the initial stage the committee will conduct a feasibility study through consultants.
The official said hiring of consultants would be made from world-famous organisations for which applications had been invited, adding, three consultants had also been short-listed.
The official said a 40 kanal of land from the state property would be allotted for the medical college.
He said the district headquarters hospital was being upgraded to 400-bed to give it a status of teaching hospital.
