Rs4.24 billion surplus budget for Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH, July 1: DCO Jamal Mustafa Syed presented a Rs4.240 billion budget with a surplus of Rs414,500 for the 2011-12 fiscal year here on Thursday. The budget proposes no new taxes.

The DCO told a meeting of district government officials that the budget was based on its share in income received from the provincial government.

According to allocations' break-up, Rs111.255 million has been kept for the state organs (excluding law department and salary and non-salary components), Rs1.937 million for law department, Rs534.463 million for finance department, Rs42.832 million for tax management of the Board of Revenue, Rs 8.232 million for tax management of excise and taxation, Rs3.063 million for civil defence, Rs63.592 million for administration and works, Rs20 million for highways, roads and bridges, Rs35 million for buildings and structure, Rs2.240 billion for education and literacy department, Rs307.334 million for health, Rs1.233 million for manpower and labour management, Rs4.533 million for sports and recreational facilities, Rs21.187 million for social security and social welfare, Rs66.891 million for agriculture and food administration, Rs30.067 million for land management, Rs33.938 million for animal husbandry, Rs23.960 million for forestry, Rs2.468 million for fisheries, Rs2.246 million for cooperation and Rs70.307 million for grants and subventions.

The DCO said that total estimated receipts stood at Rs4240.058 million and the estimated expenditure Rs4239.644 million with a surplus of Rs414,500.

He said the district government received Rs3567.175 million as PFC share for 2011-12 with an increase of Rs400 million over last year. The district's share received under grants and subventions was Rs65.283 million.

Non-development expenditure, he said, stood at Rs2933.110 million for salary component, including 15 per cent and 20 per cent ad hoc relief allowance and conveyance allowance of government employees.

An amount of Rs692.271 million has been allocated for non-salary component of various departments, including Rs300 million proposed for introduction of School Specific Budget, he said.

He said an amount of Rs460 million had been allocated for development schemes and Rs62 million for CCB schemes.

The DCO said that an amount of Rs158 million had been earmarked for roads, Rs80 million for education, Rs45 million for health, Rs42 million for water supply and drainage, Rs16.5 million for PP& H and Rs7 million for agriculture. An amount of Rs5 million had been allocated for disaster management, he said.
