Musharraf, Fahd discuss issues
RIYADH, Oct 29: President Gen Pervez Musharraf held detailed talks with Saudi King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz on Tuesday.
They discussed the India-Pakistan relations, the Afghanistan situation and the Middle East situation.
President Musharraf reiterated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia stood by each other in all circumstances and would continue to do so in future.
The Saudi leaders congratulated President Musharraf on holding the general elections. Prince Abdullah expressed the hope that the newly-elected people’s representatives would work for the Muslim cause.
The president and the Saudi leaders expressed satisfaction over the close bilateral cooperation in different fields and agreed to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Labour Minister Owais Ghani assisted the president during the talks.
Earlier, when the president arrived on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, he was received at the airport by Riyadh Governor Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.
Observers believe that the visit has taken place at a time when both Islamabad and Riyadh are under immense pressure from the United States.
APP ADDS: The crown prince emphasized that Saudi Arabia would continue to play its brotherly role for the development in Pakistan.
The president conveyed warm greetings from the people of Pakistan for the people of Saudi Arabia and wished the King good health and long life.
