Pakistan expected to send big contingent to ASBC boxing

Pakistan is expected to send as many as eight boxers at the Asian Boxing Confederation Championship (ASBC), scheduled to be held next month in South Korea.

The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) is planning to use the competition as a springboard for September’s World Championship which will serve as a qualifying event for the London Olympics.

“We have sent eight entries for the event,” the PBF secretary Akram Khan told PPI.

“We want to give international exposure to maximum boxers before the Olympic Qualifiers.

Akram said national coach Ali Baksh who is supervising a national training camp at the Pakistan Sports Board in Islamabad will finalise the team for ASBC event within the next few days.

The championship will be held from August 3-10 in Incheon.
