ABBOTTABAD: Policemen awaiting promotions
ABBOTTABAD, Nov 3: The much-publicised police reforms have failed to do justice to the low-grade policemen, who are almost 90 per cent of the total strength of the police department, sources say.
Some of the officials attribute this delay to a lengthy procedure in promoting these policemen. “On the one hand we are deprived of our rights while on the other people brand us as cruel and corrupt”, complained some policemen.
A police officer, on the condition of anonymity, told Dawn that neither any provision had been made for the welfare of the policemen nor any relief had been given them in the reforms.
The low-ranked police officials have demanded of the government pave way for setting up a corruption-free and efficient police force.
