Jansher suffering from mysterious disease
ISLAMABAD: Squash legend Jansher Khan is suffering from a mysterious disease these days and is bed-ridden at his home in Peshawar, Dawn learnt on Friday.
“Jansher is currently bed-ridden and finding it diffcult to open his eyes with his hands constantly shivering,” secretary Pakistan Squash Federation, Wing Cdr. Mohammad Asghar told Dawn after some PSF officials visited the champion player.
Asghar said Jansher, the eight time world champion and six times British Open winner had undergone several medical tests at major hospitals in Islamabad and a few other cities and they were all clear. “The disease is a mysterious one and is yet to be diagnosed.”
According to the PSF official, senior-vice-president AVM Razi Nawab visited Jansher’s residence to get an update over the health of ailing squash player. “We have offered Jansher’s family all the assistance possible and are willing to send him abroad on the federation’s expenses for treatment,” said the official.
Jansher, 41, is currently also the advisor to the PSF President, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Rao Qamar Sultan besides being the national coach.
Meanwhile, Aamir Atlas Khan, the nephew of Jansher who recently returned from an international assignment, said: “All I can say is that he [Jansher] is ill but I am not aware about his condition.”
