Zafar Qureshi resumes NICL scam probe

KARACHI: Zafar Qureshi, Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency, resumed the investigation into the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case after taking charge of his office on Monday, DawnNews reported.

Earlier on Saturday, he was stopped from attending his 'first day' in office when security officials barred him from entering the FIA building after a hoax call regarding a bomb.

Mr Qureshi was reinstated to his post last week after the Supreme Court quashed his July 4 suspension order.

He was suspended by the government apparently to keep him out of the investigation into the multi-billion-rupee NICL scam which also involves Moonis Elahi, the son of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi whose party is a partner in the PPP-led coalition government at the centre.
