ATTOCK, Sept 12: Two tested positive for dengue after seven suspected patients were brought to different hospitals of the district in recent days.This was stated by Attock district executive district officer (EDO), Health, Dr Musarat Hussain Abdulah in a statement here on Monday.

He said the patients reported in different hospitals with the complaints of high fever with severe headache, pain in eyes and vomiting. They were sent to different hospitals in Rawalpindi for proper medical checkup and also sent their blood samples for laboratory test.

Out of which, tests of first two patients were found positive, while test result for others are still being awaited.

However, both dengue fever patients had been discharged form the hospital after treatment, while five others were still under treatment, the EDO claimed.

He said that the patients were stable as their treatment had been started.

He claimed that the health department was alive to the situation and had adopted precautionary measures.

Under which, special arrangements had been made at the district and tehsil headquarters hospitals.  While anti-dengue spray had also been carried out at various areas of all tehsils of the district under the supervision of Assistant commissioners, he said.

Meanwhile, the EDO health also said that dengue fever was a self-limiting viral disease and supportive treatment was being provided to the patients.

After detection of dengue fever cases, the authorities concerned have constituted teams to assess the situation and carry out epidemiological investigations, sources maintained.

The teams also visited the hospitals and health institutions of the district to gather information about other suspected cases admitted and determine the disease trend and its geographical distribution besides setting up health teams for monitoring and surveillance of dengue fever cases, sources added.
