Bahawalpur DPO made OSD
LAHORE, Sept 14: The Punjab government on Wednesday transferred Bahawalpur District Police Officer Babar Bakht Qureshi and made him an officer on special duty.
Mr Qureshi, who is currently on ex-Pakistan leave, had earlier requested the government to transfer him reportedly because of ‘excessive’ political interference in district police affairs.
After his transfer, three districts --Bahawalpur, Pakpattan and Narowal -- have become short of police chiefs.
Police sources told Dawn Mr Bakht, who had developed differences with some PML-N legislators, had been transferred on theorders of the chief minister. Bakht was earlier credited with capturing most-wanted militant Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s south Punjab head Talha and his four accomplices.
