'Pakistan geared up for Asian Kabaddi Championship''

ISLAMABAD: A 15-member Pakistan squad will depart for Iran on Thursday to participate in the first circle-style Asian Kabaddi Championship that takes place from September 24 to 28 in Tabriz.

The event will see over 120 athletes participate from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan amd hosts Iran.

Pakistan Kabbadi Federation (PKF) Secretary Muhammad Sarwar told APP that the Pakistan outfit consisted of young and talented players, who underwent hard training in a two-week camp at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

“The event will be held in our traditional circle style where players will go one-on-one against each other. I hope our athletes will perform well as they are well prepared for it,” he said.

Squad: Imtiaz Alam, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Afzal, Musharraf Javed, Asif Ali, Mohsin Naseer, Muhammad Mansha, Muhammad Ashfaq, Muhammad Hayat, Naeem Butt, Muhammad Imran Khan, Muhammad Kashif Khan, Shafique Ahmed, and Shams Latif. Muhammad Asif Cheema will accompany the team as coach/manager.
