SANGHAR: Man kidnapped

SANGHAR, Nov 11: A gang of bandits kidnapped a peasant, Niaz Mohammad Leghari, in Gul Hassan Solangi village, near Sinjhoro, on Sunday.

The bandits stormed the village and overpowered Niaz, Gul Hassan Solangi, Mahram Solangi and Dhalan Solangi, who tilled the land of Ameer Ahmed. To intimidate the villagers, the bandits fired dozens of shots in the air and also burnt thorny fences put around the houses.

The bandits took the four peasants with them but freed three of them at some distance with a ransom message, taking Niaz away with them.

On receiving the information, the police went after the dacoits but failed to engage the outlaws, who were said to be hiding in a sugarcane field.—Correspondent
