QUETTA, Oct 6: A Balochistan High Court bench directed all political parties on Thursday to refrain from resorting to ‘wall-chalking’ for propagating their ideas among people.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Issa and Justice Abdul Qadir Mengal was hearing a petition filed by Talat Waheed Khan.

The court ordered that paragraph 5 of its Oct 3 order be sent to the Election Commission for onward transmission to the heads of political parties, information department and the government of Balochistan.

The order was sent to the media on Thursday.

“Our attention is drawn to wall-chalking that continues unabated by the political parties and commercial ventures,” the judges said.

The political parties had agreed that they would not indulge in wall-chalking and that they had no objection if their slogans were removed from the walls.

The court said the wall-chalking continued despite the law prohibiting it and the undertaking given by the political parties.

The court said the political parties had ample opportunity to spread their messages through the media, assembly andparliament, instead of wall-chalking. The hearing was adjourned till October 13.
