Sindh Speaker receive Mirza’s resignation letter
KARACHI: The mystery of Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza’s resignation letter was finally resolved on Monday when the Speaker Sindh Assembly claimed to have received the letter, DawnNews reported.
Nisar Khuro, the speaker of the provincial assembly, confirmed receiving the letter.
“I have received Dr. Mirza's resignation which was submitted to my office in his own hand writing,” said Khuhro while addressing a press conference at his office.
Khuhro said that he also talked to Mirza on telephone and confirmed that the resignation was tendered by him.
He said that Mirza had not shown any reason for his resignation in the letter and added that all legal formalities were completed by his secretariat.
In addition, he said that the Election Commission will announce a date of election on PS-57 (Badin) which has fallen vacant after the resignation of MPA Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza.
The Sindh’s senior minister had announced his resignation from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) post as vice president of the Sindh chapter as well as his membership of the Sindh Assembly.
Khuro, however, had claimed that he had not received the letter.
On this, Mirza clarified yesterday that he had already sent the letter and that he had no knowledge where it went.
