Ahmadi stabbed to death in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, Nov 14: A member of the Ahmadi community was stabbed to death allegedly by an activist of Tehrik Khatam-i-Nubawat in Mustafa-bad here on Thursday.

Police claimed that Abdul Waheed and his brother were on their way to purchase some articles from an area shop when accused Imtiaz Shah and Rafaqat Ali intercepted them.

Police said Rafaqat overpowered Abdul Waheed while Imtiaz attacked him with a dagger. Waheed fell on the ground due to serious chest wounds. Both the accused fled from the scene after committing the crime. The injured died from his wounds on way to the Allied Hospital.

According to police, Imtiaz Shah was a worker of the Tehrik Khatam-i-Nubawat and was notorious for attacking the Ahmadis. He was nominated accused in a similar murder attack in 1988.

Over 100 families of the Ahmadis reside in Mustafaabad, a locality dominated by lower middle class traders and industrial employees. Some isolated incidents of clashes between the Ahmadis and Muslims have been reported in the past.

A heavy police contingent has been deputed by the police in Mustafabad and its adjoining areas.

Civil Lines police said they were after the accused.

KILLED: A girl was killed when her minor brother pulled the trigger of a gun in Chak No 243 RB on Thursday.

Sultan Ahmad, the eight-year-old son of army man Mazhar Ali, was playing with a gun during Sehri when he pulled the trigger. A bullet hit his 12-year-old sister Irum who died on the spot.
