SNGPL trounce Hyderabad
KARACHI: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) continued their winning spree in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship Division II when they defeated Hyderabad by an innings and 66 runs on the penultimate day of their fourth-round fixture at the UBL Sports Complex here on Thursday.
SNGPL’s fourth straight victory — their third by innings — was inspired by Bilawal Bhatti who finished with a match haul of 10 for 89, including 4-51 in Hyderabad’s second-innings total of 298. Fellow paceman Adil Raza took 3-89.
Hyderabad extended the game into the final session with dogged batting which was a sharp contrast to their first innings when they were dismissed for 97 in 19.5 overs. This time they showed a lot of guts with Lal Kumar, Mir Ali Talpur and Taj Wassan all making half-centuries.
Lal Kumar (50) and skipper Mir Ali Talpur (51) added 101 for the fifth wicket, while Taj, playing his first match since February 2009, top-scored with an unbeaten 56.
