Thousands of Sikh pilgrims arrive at Nankana Sahib

SYED WALA (Nankana Sahib): The three-day celebrations of 543rd birth anniversary of spiritual leader of Sikh community, Baba Guru Nanak began at Nanaka Sahib on Tuesday.

More than 3,000 Sikh pilgrims travelling through three special trains to perform their religious rituals arrived at Wagah from across the border.

According to official sources, approximately 8,000 Sikh yatress in total from India, England, Canada, Australia, Afghanistan and other countries have travelled to Nankana Sahib to participate in the annual ceremonies of their spiritual leader.

The yatrees would visit Nankana Sahib, Panja Sahib, Hassanabadal, Dera Sahib and their other holy places in Punjab.

Nanaka Sahib DCO Hassan Iqbal, DPO Dr Haider Ashraf, Auqaf Department’s Deputy Director Fazal Elahi Butt and other officers welcomed the yatrees on their arrival at Nankana Sahib.

Meanwhile the district administration and other law enforcement agencies have made tight security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident on this occasion.
