Cultural resorts abuzz with activity

LAHORE, Nov 9: A good number of people visited entertainment places like cinemas and wildlife resorts such as Safari and Lahore Zoo during Eid days.

Two Punjabi movies -- Thakur 420 (directed by Masood Butt) and Danay Pay Dana (Syed Noor) -- were released on Eid.

According to entertainment circles, Thakur 420, starring Nargis, Moamar Rana and Iftikhar Thakur, has done a good business at the box office. They say comedy by Iftikhar Thakur and others added charm to the flick.Danay Pay Dana has not been able to come up to the expectations of the audience. Critics say people have somewhat lost interest in watching Saima in every film directed by Syed Noor.

Saima's traditional acting is considered rather monotonous and Moamar Rana's efforts to copy Salman Khan's character in Dabang failed to produce results.

The initial business reports of the two films on three days of Eid reveal that Masood Butt's movie has done a good business.

Qaiser Sanaullah, chairman of the Cinema Association, told media that Danay Pay Dana's three-day business earning was Rs500,000 at the box office whereas Thakur 420 did the business of Rs900,000 in Lahore. At the provincial level, he said, Thakur 420 did the business of Rs3.5 million and Danay Pay Dana (Rs2.2 million).

Another flick, No Tension could not be released on Eid and it will hit cinemas next year.

The theatres at Lahore saw big crowds interested in competitions of dances among various stage dancers. Mehfil, Alfalah and Naz theatres remained packed during Eid. Dawn

A large number of people visited Lahore Zoo and Safari. An estimated 90,000 people visited the zoo in three days of Eid and it generated an income of Rs1 million, Director Zoo Shafqat told .

As many as 22,929 people visited Safari which earned Rs670,000 in three days.
